Statewide Ban on Personal Electronic Devices in Schools
On October 8, 2025, the Astoria School District School Board formally adopted Policy JFCEB: Personal Electronic Devices. This policy establishes a statewide prohibition on the use of personal electronic devices during the school day in all Oregon public school districts.
This change is mandated by ORS 336.840 and Governor’s Executive Order No. 25-09. The goal is to support student mental health, reduce classroom distractions, and ensure that every student has the best opportunity for academic success.
Astoria School District will fully implement this policy beginning on January 1, 2026.
School staff will be working with students to make sure the policy is followed. We appreciate your partnership as we continue to work to create a focused, distraction-free learning environment for every student.
